BENCHES AT THE PARK

The benches in the park were funded by a grant from Tesco Bags of Help programme in 2017.  This was part of the Friends of Caldy Nature Park 25th Anniversary Enhancement  Project to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Friends Group.  Bags of Help was Tesco’s local community awards programme where the money raised from the 5p plastic bag levy in Tesco stores was used to fund community projects. The process involved a public vote to determine which groups would receive a grant. The Friends were fortunate enough to be awarded a grant of £8000 which was used to replace the benches in the park and to fund other improvements . The benches are spread at regular intervals throughout the park to ensure there are plenty of places to rest for those who need to, or who simply wish to enjoy the peaceful environment of the park, or to chat with friends.  A total of 16 benches - all made from recycled plastic – were installed in the park.

The funding from Tesco was also used to re-seed the car park meadow and to purchase an anniversary tree which was planted on  long meadow.
