When the pond was dug in 1992 they needed to divert water from Caldy Brook to feed the pond.

A weir was created at the (now blue millennium) bridge and then a leat was dug around and into the pond and then back out and around back into Caldy Brook.

A series of 6 sluices were also created to help control the flow of water. You can see the course of the leat on the health walk map. Most of the construction of the weir you see in the photos is now below the water. Recent works have been carried out to remove silt from in front of the weir and to strengthen the walls where erosion had taken place over the last 33 years.
