The History of Caldy Nature Park

Caldy Nature Park was first established in 1991, details of our history can be found below.

1991

Working with Chester City Council, the primary aim of creating a large area of wetland began.

1993

The pond and the leats were excavated, taking water from the brook into the pond.

2009

The pond and leats were re-excavated and a new wetland area created. The bridges were replaced and some paths rebuilt. The sculpture was erected near the car park and the wildflower area fenced off.

2010

A new play area was created for the children.

2013

Saw the creation of new community orchards as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and repairs to the damaged footpaths.

2014

A new picnic table was installed at the request of local residents. This has disabled access and so can be used by all the community. Footpaths were repaired and a new tarmac path installed.

2015

The Park retained its Green Flag status for another year thanks to all the hard work by our Ranger and the monthly working parties.

2016

New signage was installed at all entrances to the park. The Park retained its Green Flag status for 2016/17.
